This article will provide detail on alternate oil filters that may be used on the V10 Magnum. These filters will also fit on 5.2 and 5.9 Magnum engines provided there is enough clearance for them. The V10 does not have any filter length restrictions due to its location. All part numbers are based off WIX part numbers. These can be cross referenced to your favorite brand oil filter.
WIX 51085
This is the stock filter that is called for at local parts stores for V8 and V10 Magnums. It has been in use by Mopar since 1972.

WIX 51068
This filter was used by Mopar from 1970-1998. The V10 was originally specified with a larger filter than the V8 Magnum engines. This was likely the filter originally specified but was later dropped likely due to part cost and part stocking at dealers. Cheaper and easier to service when you have one filter that fits multiple engines.

This filter was used by Mopar from 1958-1974. This is the go to filter for increased filter capacity. I run this filter on all my Magnum engines where filter length clearance is available.

WIX 51773
This filter is found on Ford products and is not recommended over the previous filter due to the lower micron rating. This filter will allow larger particles to get into bearings than the filters specified by Mopar. I have run this filter in the past with no ill effects to oil pressure or oil condition.
